Tamie guides clients through high-pressure corporate emergencies with her clear, strong and level-headed advice. She is an assertive and driven insolvency litigator who has extensive experience navigating contentious multi-million dollar corporate restructuring disputes across all types of industries. Tamie regularly works on Canada’s largest and most challenging debt and equity reorganizations, cross-jurisdictional asset recoveries, corporate misconduct litigation and distressed transaction files.
Tamie is a member of the firm’s Financial Services (Insolvency & Restructuring) and Litigation & Dispute Resolution Groups. Her practice focuses on insolvency and restructuring law with an emphasis on complex commercial litigation. Tamie litigates under both the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, and acts on behalf of banks, lenders, creditors, regulators and court-appointed officers, among other parties. She also has experience on the commercial aspects of work-outs, liquidations, turnarounds and security enforcement proceedings.
Tamie maintains a side-practice specializing in Canadian cryptocurrency and crypto-asset law, and has advocated for victims, creditors and equity-holders in two of North America’s largest crypto-platform insolvencies, Voyager and Quadriga. She has also advised technology and media companies on crypto-asset advertising and securities regulations. In 2023, Tamie was appointed Chair of the Canadian Blockchain Consortium’s Policy & Advocacy Committee.
Tamie has published peer-reviewed papers across various leading academic journals, including the Annual Review of Insolvency Law and the Banking and Finance Law Review, and has spoken at both industry events and Canadian law schools on insolvency-related topics. She regularly appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) and has worked on matters before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Tamie has been appointed to the firm’s Student Committee since her third year of practice and is an active participant in ongoing firm mentorship programs.
