Zac works closely with Indigenous clients as a trusted advisor and advocate, providing practical and strategic legal support. He is committed to advancing and protecting Indigenous rights, while contributing to long‑term, sustainable futures grounded in self‑determination. Zac approaches each matter with careful analysis and a creative mindset, and values building strong, trust‑based relationships with the clients and communities he serves. Zac brings his own experiences as an Indigenous lawyer to provide empathetic, responsive and solution-oriented advice to his clients.

Zac is a member of the firm’s Indigenous Practice Group. He is also a member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. Zac’s practice largely focuses on Métis rights matters, as well as negotiations related to self-government and harvesting rights, litigation before the courts and work connected to historic claims and grievances. He is involved at every stage of rights-based claims, assisting clients through sophisticated dispute resolution processes and formal legal proceedings. Zac is also experienced in providing governance support, taking pragmatic approaches to assist Indigenous governments and organizations in building their own structures, institutions and pathways forward.

Prior to joining Aird & Berlis, Zac articled and worked at a full-service firm in Midland, Ontario, with his practice focusing on litigation and estate planning, and as in-house counsel to an Indigenous government.

Zac is Métis from the Georgian Bay Métis Community and is a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario.
