Christie’s extensive commercial real estate experience allows her to anticipate challenges before they become obstacles to the successful closing of transactions. She is a partner and has been a member of the firm’s Real Estate Group for over two decades. Christie has developed a broad range of expertise in all areas of real property transactions, including the purchase, sale, development, leasing and financing of all types of properties. Christie advises clients across all sectors including Real Estate Investment Trusts, owners, developers, entrepreneurs, joint ventures, partnerships and financial institutions.

For over 20 years, Christie has also acted for clients in the hotel and hospitality industry on hotel purchases, sales and financings, and she is widely recognized for the expertise she has in this sector. She recently completed one of the largest hotel purchases in Canadian history. Christie has also acted in respect of the construction and development of several hotels and in connection with various franchise and management agreements with all of the major franchisors in the province. 

Prior to joining Aird & Berlis, Christie spent several years as Senior Counsel, Real Estate at one of Canada's major financial institutions. She was the lawyer responsible for all real estate-related matters for the bank and its subsidiaries, and had carriage of all legal matters with respect to the bank's commercial and residential mortgage portfolios.
