Over a long career in litigation, John has developed an outstanding reputation based on his honest and straight forward approach. Drawing on a strong business background, John provides his clients with practical solutions from a commercial perspective. No matter the size of client, John delivers exceptional service and understands the importance of each case.
John is a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group and the Intellectual Property Group as well as Chair of the firm's Conflicts Committee. He practises in the area of civil litigation, with an emphasis on corporate and commercial matters, including a wide variety of disputes involving all forms of commercial contracts, shareholder and partnership dispute litigation, securities litigation, insurance litigation, patent litigation and class actions.
John also regularly advises on pension and benefits issues in the context of corporate transactions, financings and insolvencies. His practice emphasizes all aspects of pension and benefits matters, including plan administration and governance, wind-ups and surplus utilization and withdrawal issues.
John has appeared before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
John summered and articled at the firm and has been with Aird & Berlis for over 25 years in total.
