  7. Maggie Bassani

Maggie is a member of the firm’s Municipal, Land Use Planning & Development Group. She has extensive experience advising private sector clients, municipalities and government agencies across Ontario in all aspects of the development process. Her expertise lies in supporting clients through the lifecycle of a project, from initial due diligence and application submission to representation before municipal authorities and administrative tribunals. Maggie draws from this valuable insight and practical experience to help clients resolve issues and advance their land use and development plans.

Maggie has particular expertise in the preparation and processing of all development applications for real estate developers and landowners, including official plan and zoning by-law amendments, consents to sever, plans of subdivision, minor variances and site plan approvals. In addition to providing strategic guidance to her clients, she leads and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a successful outcome. Maggie’s expertise also includes advising municipalities and public sector bodies on navigating planning and legal processes to facilitate major development, community-building and infrastructure projects in partnership with the private sector.

Maggie is committed to capacity building and adds value by keeping her clients informed of land use planning issues and industry updates that affect them.

Maggie is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School where she teaches the Land Use Planning Law course. She currently serves on the firm’s Associates Committee and acts as a mentor to both summer and articling students, having previously been a long standing member of the Student Recruitment Committee.
